New Deal

At one time I was doing a lot of Craig' List. I love the hunt. A few of my hunted are still in the garage. Now, one has been rescued from the pile and finally redone.  I found this settee over a year ago and paid $50 for it. The stripped velvet came from a fabric discount shop. The piece was reupholstered and couldn't be more pleased with the results.  The legs were touched up with a darker stain and nail heads removed. I absolutely love the new settee. What a deal.

CAFE CURTAIN

There are times when all you need is a little bit of privacy in the kitchen.  Keep the sun coming in at the top by hanging a cute cafe curtain like this one.  Pick up a two yard remnant at your local fabric store and stitch up a sweet little gem.  The cream background and black print tie in with the black brindle edging on the antique white cabinet.  Lovely. What do you think?

Outside Spaces

Summer is gracefully winding down. But there are still enough cool evenings remaining to enjoy outdoor rooms and gardens. I've collected a few of my favorite outdoor settings to share.  Creating a space for yourself doesn't have to be limited to inside. I would love having a little tent hide away in the corner of my backyard. Maybe you'll be inspired to spend a few more warm weather days or nights relaxing or entertaining in the outdoor space you have. Let me know if you need help with a few ideas to make it happen. 

Drape It

It takes time to decide on window treatments. We often need to live in a space to determine what works while we ponder ideas. Don't rush it. As you decorate and a style begins to emerge  a great idea will come.  But, if you have a need to complete the room and get the job done here's an idea for windows in a two story living or family room.
In this room the same fabric is used for the chairs and drapes. The drama of the long drapes add the wow factor and completes the room. It's a bold move with a zigzag pattern yet the color calms everything and makes for a comfortable living space. If you have a window treatment dilemma email me. I have lots of great ideas!

Lighting Love

Lighting is often an after thought in a design plan but it shouldn't be. It also doesn't have to be super expensive to make an impact.This five arm light fixture with circular woven shades is in one of my favorite lighting collections. It also has a pendant companion that is equally as stunning. I'm determined to purchase the six arm candelabra base chandelier when I renovate my dining room.
